A Cure for Cotton
In a quest to try to organize my boudoir (I say “quest” because I share the boudoir with my husband and my desk doubles as my vanity…ugh…this is why you’ve yet to see photos of the “boudoir”), I was in need of one place to store all of my cotton. Cotton balls, Q-tips and my Chanel Le Coton, that is. Previously, I had my Q-tips in this little pink glass votive holder (that I picked up at the dollar store or something). I had my cotton balls in this green faux alligator skin container. And, my Le Coton was in it’s original packaging. Then, one day on a shopping trip to…
Pinterest Passion: Boudoir
You have probably noticed less posts in the last several months. This bad habit started when my passion for Pinterest began (which was followed by a series of unfortunate events in my personal life). I am so addicted, I can spend hours daydreaming in my boudoir on Pinterest.com (instead of actually “doing” the creative things I see on there). In any event, I highly recommend joining Pinterest if you haven’t already. It allows you to create virtual categorized pin-boards. Since this is where I’ve been spending my time, I thought it was appropriate to at least share it with you. So, I will begin posting some photos from various pin…
Ralph Lauren Boudoir
I thought you might enjoy these lovely boudoir photos from Ralph Lauren. Unfortunately I waited a little too long to share them wiht you and I no longer see the collection on the RL website. I’m sure you’ll delight in the inspiration nonetheless… 1
Traveling Boudoir
Don’t you just hate it when you’re in a hotel room that doesn’t have a proper area for applying your make-up? I prefer to apply my make-up sitting down, at a bedroom vanity. It’s so nice when a hotel room is well appointed with a dressing table, though they are quite rare. Well, no need to worry, because now you can take your vanity along with you. When I opened my December issue of Elle magazine, I saw this divine little treasure… This trunk-vanity, called the 211 Trunk, can be purchased from The Conran Shop for $4,800. Not only can you take it with you, but it would be so…
Bargain Busting Boudoir
This past spring, my daughter officially became a “tween” (this is the term they use now when one is in between being a young child and a teen). This meant that her boudoir was in need of two things: a bigger desk and a bedroom vanity. Since I’m sure she’ll want to upgrade to the “teen” look in her bedroom soon, I didn’t want to spend the money on a new desk or vanity. Ok, let me be honest…she already wants to do away with the pastels and go for a more mature look in her bedroom, but I am desperately trying to hold on to the “little girl” decor…

Thinking Outside the Boudoir: Breakfast at Tiffany’s
If you haven’t already noticed, the theme at My Little Boudoir recently is Tiffany & Co. So, what would be more appropriate than to feature Holly Golightly’s apartment in Breakfast at Tiffany’s for the monthly series called Thinking Outside the Boudoir. This is where I share my fascination of homes from the movies. While some may not be practical for everyday life, or represent my overall ideal decor, I would love to spend some time in them, even just for a night. In some it is the decor that I fancy. In others it’s the architecture or floor plan. And in some I think it’s my fondness for the characters.…
Reclaiming My Throne
I really do love a dressing table/vanity in my boudoir. Not only do I think it looks charming, but it makes getting ready more of a sacred ritual. Ever since my vanity was destroyed from being broken twice during moves (once by my dad and once by my husband…if they’re reading this, they should still feel guilty because I actually shed tears over it), I feel like part of my womanhood is missing (is this possible?). I loved my vanity. My mother bought it for me at an antique store when I was a teenager. It was like I was sitting upon a throne when I was sitting there putting…
Celebrity Boudoir: Dita Von Teese
This months Celebrity Boudoir belongs to Dita Von Teese, the famed burlesque star. A woman who constantly exudes impeccable glamour, like Dita, would clearly would have a fabulous boudoir. Her boudoir is complete with an antique dressing table, hat stand (with a beautiful collection of hats), pink walls, a lady head vase, misting perfume bottle, cosmetic mirror and powder puff. Oh, to have a showgirls closet…everyday could be dress up day. I don’t think this photo is taken in her boudoir, but it is in her home. And since it exemplifies glamour, as every aspect of her life appears to, I thought I’d share it anyway. The deep peacock blue…
Boudoir [boo-dwahr]
I find the name My Little Boudoir perfectly suitable for this blog, which I hope you will adore as I do. You see, all of my life my bedroom has been a very sacred place for me. As a child, I would stay in my lovely pink floral room for hours (by choice) playing Barbie dolls, baby dolls or dress-up (ok I admit, sometimes it would go there when in a “time out” or to pout {see below}). As a tween I spent hours listening to cassette tapes gazing at my New Kids on the Block posters. As a teenager, with my walls plastered in pages torn from Vogue and…
