Thinking Outside the Boudoir: Rebecca
Of all the movie homes that I’ve shown on My Little Boudoir, this one has a boudoir that may just top them all! The home is called Manderlay and the movie is Rebecca, starring Joan Fontaine and Laurence Olivier. I read the book (by Daphne du Maurier) first, and then watched the movie. I loved both. To give you some insight as to why you are about to see two boudoirs in the photos that follow, here is a preview of what the book/movie is about: Rebecca is a novel of mystery and passion, a dark psychological tale of secrets and betrayal, dead loves and an estate called Manderley that…

Breakfast at Tiffany’s Inspired Decor
Judging by the fact that the Tiffany & Co. Inspired Boudoir post was the most viewed post on My Little Boudoir in all of 2010, I thought you ladies might enjoy a Breakfast at Tiffany’s Inspired post. This time though, I am including decor beyond the boudoir. We all know that the main attraction of Holly Golightly’s apartment was the claw foot bathtub sofa in her living room. Here is Holly on her tub sofa, complete with brass telephone faucet and all. Through a company called Reestore, you too, can lean back and take a nice long bath rest in your living room. Don’t worry that the colors aren’t exact.…

Boudoir on a Budget: Seating
Yes, it is easy to dream about what your boudoir would look like if you could furnish it with the most luxurious of goods. That is, if price weren’t an object, which for the majority (including myself) is a dream in itself. But what about when money is a factor and you are on a budget? Clearly there is a vast gray area between luxury and budget, but today I thought I’d focus on decorating your boudoir on a budget. This will actually be a three a series of posts, because I found so many fabulous boudoir items to share with you. All furniture items are under $500 a piece.…

Reality Boudoir
I will admit it (not sure if I should), but I am a fan of the Real Housewives series on Bravo. However, I only (yes, only) watch New York, New Jersey and Atlanta seasons. I’ve seen bits and pieces of the Beverly Hills season, but I never really got into it. Now I’m wondering if I should… I recently came across this photo of Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Lisa Vanderpump on one of the blogs that I follow (Daisy Pink Cupcake). When I saw this image, you know I had to search for more of where that came from. I ultimately landed on the real estate listing by…

Boudoir Laundry
It was nearly one year ago that I shared with you my favorite Laundry Delicate by Tocca for hand-washing lingerie and delicate items. But, what if you had one of these tufted beauties? I simply adore these Vedette washing machines for the boudoir, designed by Chantal Thomass. 1

It’s Not Fair…
Me: “That’s not fair!” Mom: “Well, life isn’t fair!” Me: “Well, it should be and it is supposed to be!” This is how it went when I was a child and didn’t get my way. And, this is how I feel about something I found out about today. H&M has a “home” section, but the online shipping is not available in the U.S. Ugh! While it’s true that some of the items are best suited for a young lady’s dorm room or first apartment, there are many delightful items that any woman would find worthy of being in her boudoir. Plus, the prices are very affordable. Check out these great…

Celebrity Boudoir: Miley Cyrus
Please let me preface this post by saying that I am not a big fan of Miley, nor do I agree with many of her stunts over the past year or two. Yes, I get that a girl has go to grow up and do things that little girls don’t, but when episodes of your show still air on the Disney Channel and five-year-old girls proudly walk into their first day of kindergarten with your face on their new backpack, it’s just not responsible behavior. Besides, doesn’t she know that bong-toking is not becoming, nor ladylike, behavior fit for a woman with a boudoir? HOWEVER….that does not take away from…

Traveling Boudoir
Don’t you just hate it when you’re in a hotel room that doesn’t have a proper area for applying your make-up? I prefer to apply my make-up sitting down, at a bedroom vanity. It’s so nice when a hotel room is well appointed with a dressing table, though they are quite rare. Well, no need to worry, because now you can take your vanity along with you. When I opened my December issue of Elle magazine, I saw this divine little treasure… This trunk-vanity, called the 211 Trunk, can be purchased from The Conran Shop for $4,800. Not only can you take it with you, but it would be so…

Jean-Paul Gaultier for Roche Bobois
The man famous for his “boudoir” designs being worn outside of the boudoir (including Madonna’s iconic 1990’s cone bra look), has now designed a line that is truly meant for the boudoir (and perhaps the rest of your home as well). Jean-Paul Gaultier has designed a home decor line for Roche Bobois. You will notice that some pieces, like the blush bedding and corset-inspired pillows, take on a more feminine look, while other pieces like the tattoo-esque armoire and luggage-inspired chests take on a more edgier street vibe. The combination of these two looks reflect Gaultier’s signature aesthetic. For more information about this line and store locations, please visit Roche-Bobois.com.…
