Bogie and Bacall…Together Again
Sitting at my desk today I was alerted by a text message (from one of the various news outlets that I subscribe to) of the sad news that the lovely Lauren Bacall passed away. Of all the starlets of old Hollywood, Lauren Bacall’s (how shall I say) spunk, chutzpah, bravado…call it what you want…is something to be admired. She was not merely a beautiful face (at all ages), but had the grit of a soldier, the poise of an aristocrat and the boldness of a suffragette. Even in this day and age, her boldness is admirable, but think about how much it meant back when a woman having a contrary opinion was viewed…
Insta-boudoir
I finally got with the times and upgraded from the BlackBerry to the iPhone 5. I held out for a really long time because I hated typing on screens and I use it for work a lot, which means that I need to be able to quickly type a professional email without spelling or grammatical errors. I’m not going to lie, the typing on a screen takes some getting use to, but I think I’m getting the hang of it. I also like the voice record feature that puts my spoken words into text (so Jetson’s). With that being said, MLB is now on Instagram. Please follow me… http://Instagram.com/MyLittleBoudoir 0
Supermodel Sunday: Naomi Sims
The first supermodel to be featured in My Little Boudoir’s Supermodel Sunday series is none other than the beautiful Naomi Sims. In my living room I have some vintage magazines displayed on the bottom shelf of the end table that sits next to the sofa. The one on top is the above Life magazine featuring the beautiful Naomi Sims on the cover. Displaying vintage magazines is a great decorating touch for the boudoir, too. They can be easily purchased at antique stores or flea markets, usually for a reasonable price ($5-$10 each). Born in 1948, a young Naomi Sims got her modeling start in the late 1960’s. When modeling agencies turned her…
Chanel Candles
Did you ever see my post from 2010 titled, Upcycling: Chanel Perfume Bottle to Oil Candle? If not, I highly suggest you check it out. I recently added these new photos, which are much more professional than the original photos (though they are still there, too). This is a super easy do-it-yourself project that will look lovely in your boudoir. For instructions, click here. 1

Grandpa and Doris Day…
Several years ago, while going through pictures at my grandparent’s house, I came across my grandfather’s Navy scrapbook of his days serving in the Korean War upon the U.S.S. Juneau. I was so excited when I came across these pictures of Doris Day in his book. I couldn’t wait to hear my grandpa’s stories telling me all about her. To my dismay, the scrapbook was given to all of the sailors. They were not his own personal photos in all cases. And even worse, he left the ship the first second he could when it hit Long…
Pinterest Addiction
I once felt cross with my second grade teacher for telling my mother during a parent/teacher conference that I was a “daydreamer”. I didn’t care too much for her after her unsuccessful attempt in turning my “daydreaming” into a negative thing. Personally, I found daydreaming a delight. I could not understand the concept of not daydreaming. That was who I was (and who I am)…a dreamer. After all, without a vision of what you want out of life, what else does one have to look forward to? Now that I am grown, I can daydream to my heart’s content, without judgment…and I do. Since I discovered Pinterest.com, I have been…

Mademoiselle Monday: Mlle Garland
“It’s lonely and cold on the top… lonely and cold.” -Judy Garland “For it was not into my ear you whispered, but into my heart. It was not my lips you kissed, but my soul.” -Judy Garland “I try to bring the audience’s own drama – tears and laughter they know about – to them.” -Judy Garland ” We cast away priceless time in dreams, born of imagination, fed upon illusion, and put to death by reality.” -Judy Garland “For it was not into my ear you whispered, but into my heart. It was not my lips you kissed, but my soul.” -Judy Garland ” If I’m such a legend,…
Mrs. Coretta Scott King
Since today is Martin Luther King Day, I thought it would be appropriate to step away from the usual Mademoiselle Monday post to feature, instead, a post on Mrs. Coretta Scott King. Certainly we could have devoted a “Mademoiselle Monday” to her, but since we all know that part of the greatness of her legacy was her union with Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., perhaps “Madame Monday” would have been more appropriate. Yes, I know, today is technically his day, but as we all know, behind every good man is a good woman. When I think about Mrs. King, I think about about how brave she was. I have to…
