Give-Away: Mermaid Talcum Powder & Jordi Labanda Notebook
I know it’s been a while since I’ve done a give-away on My Little Boudoir, so let’s get this party started! This Friday (January 18th) I will be selecting one boudoir beauty to win both of these ladylike gifts to use in their boudoir. The lucky winner could be you! Gift #1 – Vintage inspired Mermaid Talcum Powder. The fragrance smells like baby powder with a hint of Chanel N°5. The powder is in the bottom of the tin, wrapped in paper, and the puff sits on top. Gift #2 – Jordi Labanda spiral notebook. This notebook is about 3/4″ thick and has lined paper inside. I love Jordi Labana…
Lady Head Vase Obsession
A little over three years ago I learned of a lovely little item that is perfectly suited for a boudoir. The lady head vase. I was reading the spring 2008 issue of O at Home when I came upon an article showcasing the home of event planner, Mindy Weiss, who is best known for her luxurious celebrity weddings. Her entire home is fabulous (more on that another day), but I was most intrigued by her collection of lady head vases. They are vintage (mostly mid 20th century), glamorous and perfect for a boudoir. Need proof? Take a look at the dressing room/closet of her boudoir, where they are on display…

Grandma Ellen
This past Sunday marked one year from my Grandmother’s passing. So, I wanted to take a moment today to create a post in her honor. I was very close to my grandma Ellen, who I also called “Grameo” (I guess as a child I heard somebody on TV say Daddy-O and thought it would translate well to Grammy-O), and while she lived in California and I in Washington, I was fortunate to have many long visits with her. I really cherish the times that we had together sharing family stories, going through old photographs and watching old movies. She was such a beautiful woman both inside and out and would…
And the winner is…
I am pleased to announce that we have a winner from the contest that I introduced in my post on January 25th, titled Hatchoo. Congratulations to Paige from Georgia! This lovely package will arrive in her mailbox very soon… …and this is what is inside… a vintage reproduction handkerchief from LuRay Collection. Thank you to everyone who participated! 2
Février
Since it is now February (Février), I thought it would be a good time to share this piece of my boudoir with you. It is a little 4″x6″ tray that I keep on my desk. I’m wondering if it was once part of a series, because as you can see, it says, “Février” in the top left corner. It makes for a pleasant catch-all for miscellaneous items that would probably otherwise be strewn about. I picked this little gem up at a garage sale several years ago (note the lipstick…under the red cap is an ink pen…I love it!). I’m telling you, never underestimate a garage sale. Sometimes you can…
“Hello, Operator?”
Of course everyone remembers the rotary telephone, right? Oh contraire! When pulling out this vintage telephone for its photo shoot this evening, my nine year old daughter exclaimed, “this doesn’t make any sense…how do you use this thing?” Oh, to have been born in the 21st century… I have to say, there is something I just love about a vintage rotary phone. This beauty was a gift from my boss at the espresso stand that I worked at as a teenager. She was always hunting through antique stores. Knowing I was fond of this era, she thought of me when she found it. I still treasure it today, about 15…
Hatchoo…
Every true lady should have a dainty handkerchief in her boudoir, even if it’s only used for weddings, break-ups and funerals. Today, in preparation of putting together my online boutique, I attended the Seattle Gift Show. While there, I was delighted to find these vintage reproduction handkerchiefs by LuRay Collection. Aren’t they darling? If you’re feeling a little bit offended, as though I’ve suggested you’re not a true lady because you don’t own a fancy handkerchief, no need to fret, because you may have a chance to own this beautiful vintage reproduction (don’t worry, it’s new) handkerchief (with a chinoiserie touch) that I purchased today. The winner will be selected…
Boudoir Treasure…Vintage Chanel Print
What a find! I was searching “vintage Chanel” on Ebay, and found this original vintage print from 1944. You know I snatched it up real quick. Just imagine it…in all of it’s black and white glory, framed and hanging upon the wall in my dream boudoir. In the small print it says, “A VERY FINE FACE POWDER WITH THE MOST TREASURED NAME IN PERFUME”. I am so excited for its arrival! Don’t you hate it when you see something you want on a blog or in a magazine and you want it to be yours, but can’t find it anywhere? Don’t worry…I wouldn’t do that to you. There is another…
Upcycling: Granny Gold to Girly Glamour
I love it when I find a garage sale where you truly feel like you’re stepping back in time (as long as it’s from a fabulous era). I stopped at a garage sale this past fall, and it was clear that everything belonged to an elderly woman who had held onto her precious items her whole life long. While it was probably a sad situation that prompted the garage sale, I am honored to give her items new life and cherish them as she did. I purchased two delightful bone china teacups, a few vintage jars and an old inexpensive drug store mirrored perfume tray. I wasn’t in love with…
