    Sunday’s Best: Lily Lemontree

If you’re following the posts on My Little Boudoir you will know two things; that I have started a weekly series called “Sunday’s Best” where I showcase a favorite blogpost or series from another blog -and- that I have a fondness of a blog called Lily Lemontree. Instead of sharing one single post from her blog, today I am going to share a series. The series is called “Look of the Week“. The looks that she selects are so stylish, usually in neutral colors (like black…one of my favorites) with classic lines. Occasionally she’ll even throw in some casual looks, like Gwen Stefani in her Wellies, for example. Here are…

    Living Like Barbie

One of my favorite toys as a child was my Barbie dolls. I played with them until the sixth grade (this is when most girls had already stopped, but it was a secret that my best friend and I shared). My adoration of Barbie did not end there though. I have relived another generation with her through my daughter (who unfortunately doesn’t love her as much as I). As an adult I still enjoy Barbie from time to time. As you may have noticed in my previous post (Year of the Barbie), it is Barbie who is the subject of my 2010 calendar, both in my boudoir and at the…

    Winner: Turbie Twist

Yes, I know, I should be ashamed for the amount of time it has taken me to post (and quite frankly to mail the package to) the winner of the Turbie Twist. The lucky winner was Ms. Lily Lemontree. You may recognize this name from a previous post on My Little Boudoir or from the ad on the right side of this very website. That is because she has a fabulous blog that I highly recommend you visit, stay awhile and become friends with. It’s quite lovely and if you enjoy My Little Boudoir, you’re sure to enjoy Lily Lemontree. While you’re there you may notice that My Little Boudoir…

    The Littler Boudoir: National Velvet

One evening about a month ago, my daughter asked if we could watch one of my “Boudoir” movies. At first, I didn’t know what she meant, but then I realized that she thinks of my old Hollywood films as “boudoir movies” (that I watch in my boudoir and blog about on My Little Boudoir). It melted my heart that she was actually interested in watching an “old” movie with me. Most kids don’t know how to appreciate such artistry. I responded excitedly with a “yes, I would LOVE to watch a boudoir movie with you!” I asked her to sift through my collection and choose the one she wanted to…

    Sunday’s Best: FrenchBlue

As part of my Sunday’s Best series (which I’ve been slacking on), I wanted to feature one of my favorite posts from a lovely blog that I follow. The blog is called FrenchBlue. The post is on Fauchon of Paris. What is Fauchon, you ask? Fauchon is a traiteur in Paris. A traiteur is basically a retailer of fine foods, that are mostly ready to eat (a fancy grocery/deli of sorts). Fauchon appears to focus a little more on the sweet side. Being obsessed with all things french (particularly Parisian), I was delighted to find out about Fauchon. I felt like the whole world knew about this fabulous place, except…

    Discount Shopping

I know, some people would rather not spend the time picking over a discount store’s merchandise where they only have a few of each item, however, I highly encourage it. You can find great items that would otherwise be sold at some of the top department and specialty stores, but at a much lower price. My husband and I recently took a trip to T.J. Maxx to look for desk organizers and decor for my daughter’s birthday present. We snapped some photos of some of the lovely items they had that I though you might enjoy for your boudoir, office, dining room, patio, etc. As I headed for the aisle…

    Vogue (…not the magazine)

As you may have noticed by listening to the My Little Boudoir Soundtrack, I love Madonna’s song Vogue (I also love the magazine). My favorite part of the song is when she names the silver screen movie stars. Here is a visual rendition for your viewing pleasure… Greta Garbo… …and (Marilyn) Monroe… …(Marlene) Dietrich… …and (Joe) DiMaggio… …Marlon Brando… …Jimmy Dean…on the cover of a magazine… …Grace Kelly… …Harlow, Jean (Jean Harlow)…picture of a beauty queen… …Gene Kelly… …Fred Astaire… …Ginger Rogers…dance on air… They had style, they had grace…Rita Hayworth, gave good face… …Lauren (Bacall)… …Katherine (Hepburn)… …Lana (Turner), too… …Bette Davis…we love you… Ladies with an attitude, fellas…
